Starting May 1, the rate hike will be US$300 per FEU for cargo moving to the west coast, and $650 per FEU for inland points and mini-land bridge intermodal shipments, a company statement said.
"In our first year of operation, Matson has consistently delivered a premium, expedited service from Ningbo and Shanghai to Long Beach. Our 10.2 days transit time from Shanghai has exceeded our own published schedules, and beats our competitors by at least two to three days. In addition, we offer customers next day cargo availability in Long Beach, further expediting the level of service we provide," said Dave Hoppes, senior vice president of Ocean services.
He added that in a recent survey by Drewry Shipping Consultants, Matson was ranked as the world's number one carrier for on-time vessel reliability.
"Matson remains committed to further building its reputation for providing the best service available from Ningbo and Shanghai to the west coast, characterised by superior quality and value."
