Russia will support IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim as a candidate for the next period

Russia will support IMO Secretary-General cKitack Lim as a candidate for the next period, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Yury Tsvetkov, Deputy Minister of Transport – head of Rosmorrechflot (Federal Marine and River Transport Agency), as saying at the Transport Week in Moscow. According to him, IMO Assembly will consider this issue at its meeting in London on 25-29 November 2019.

Yury Tsvetkov emphasized that Kitack Lim who visited the Transport Week highly appraised Russia’s efforts in promoting environmentally friendly shipping and development of the Arctic seas.

Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) is elected for four years. Prior to Mr. Kitak Lim this position was held by Mr Koji Sekimizu.
