Throughput of Batumi Oil Terminal (Georgia) down 19.6% in Jan.-Feb. 07, y-o-y
Batumi Oil Terminal (Georgia) decreased transshipment of oil products by 23% in February - to 817 000 tons from 1 061 000 tons in February 2006, New Region reports. In January-February the terminal’s throughput decreased by 19.6% to 1 550 000 tons. In 2006, the terminal increased transshipment of oil and oil products by 20.62% to 11 700 000 tons from 9 700 000 tons in 2005. However, commissioning of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline lead to a decrease in railway transportation of oil via Georgia. Experts forecast further decrease. In January 2007, transshipment of oil and oil products fell to 732 900 tons from 866 500 tons in January 2006.
