Fangcheng (China) to double handling capacity by 2010

The planned expansion of the mainland seaport of Fangcheng in Guangxi province is expected to double the facility's cargo handling capacity to 60 million tons by 2010.
The news agency points out that Fangcheng port on the southwest coast of mainland China has the potential to develop up to 115 deepwater berths.
There are currently 35 berths at the port, 21 of which are deepwater berths, each with a capacity of over 10,000 tonnes. The existing annual cargo handling capacity of Fangcheng port is 30 million tons, while its container handling capacity is 250,000 TEU.
