Throughput of Odessa Commercial Seaport (Ukraine) up 25.3% in Q1 07, y-o-y
In January-March 2007, Odessa Commercial Seaport (Ukraine) handled 8.695 million tons of cargo (+1.756 million tons, or +25.3%, year-on-year), the company reports according to RZD-Partner. Transshipment of dry cargo grew by 10.9%, to 4.083 million tons, liquid bulk cargo – by 41.6%, to 4.612 million tons. Growth in transshipment of dry cargo should be attributed mostly to increased handling of loose cargo (+34.8%, to 1.32 million tons). Transshipment of metal decreased by 7.4% to 1.681 million tons. Transshipment of containerized cargo grew by 19% to 898.5 thou tons, refrigerated cargo (citruses, bananas) grew almost 1.5-fold to 104 thou tons. In the sector of liquid bulk cargo the highest growth was demonstrated in transshipment of crude oil (over 1.5-fold to 2.916 million tons). In general, all types of energy including oil products and liquefied gas demonstrate positive dynamics this year.
