STX Shipbuilding Co., the world's seventh-biggest shipbuilder, said Tuesday that its second-quarter earnings increased sharply on rising orders to build ships such as oil tankers and container ships and gains from equity ties with its affiliates.
Its net profit reached 57.4 billion won (US$62 million) in the April-June period, compared with 4.29 billion won a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing. Sales increased 14 percent to 463 billion won and operating income reached 18.9 billion won.
