Indian dockers threaten nationwide strike on September 1

The All India Port and Dock Workers' Federation (AIPDWF) has threatened to launch a nationwide strike beginning September 1, following a recent breakdown in talks between the group and the chairmen of the nation's major ports, New India Press reports.
The strike is likely to have a serious impact on the country's shipping business, but there is still a possibility that the strike could be averted, various reports said.
The potential industrial action centres on workers demand to increase the retirement age from 58 to 60, better retirement benefits, and other issues.
