Hanjin Shipping to Start a Local Company in Australia
Hanjin Shipping has established a wholly-owned local company in Australia, which will start full operations from January, 2007.Approximately AD 1 million has been invested in 'Hanjin Shipping (Australia) PTY Ltd,' the new company will be called, which will operate Sydney Branch Office and Melbourne and Brisbane Sales Offices.The new wholly-owned local company is designed to strengthen the organization and sales competency and improve overall profitability.Currently, Hanjin Shipping jointly operates two liner services: AUS (Southwest Asia-Australia) and NCA (Northeast Asia-Australia), handling about 65,000TEUs of annual import/export cargo shipment.
By operating the direct sales organization, Hanjin Shipping expects to promote its image in the region and grow the customer base as well as upgrade sales competency instead of relying on import cargo.Hanjin Shipping already established local companies in Spain and Vietnam last year and in Thailand, Sri Lanka, and India this year. The Korea's largest ocean carrier will continue to expand its direct sales network in Europe and Asia where improved business competency and customer service will be needed to handle the growing volume in the future.
