Terminal for transshipment of hydrocarbons to be built in Crimea (Ukraine)

According to information provided by the Ministry of Economy of Crimea, the government has approved the project on construction of a new terminal for transshipment of hydrocarbons in Crimea, RZD-Partner reports. The terminal is to be built in Kerch region (Crimea port) within the limits of the Port of Crimea FEZ.

According to the Ministry, the executor of the business plan is Antelfterminal LLC. The project is preliminary estimated to be costing about $40 million. The terminal’s specialization is transshipment of hydrocarbons and aromatics. Cargo flow is to be comprised of Russian products going to the Mediterranean Sea states.

The project is based on the possibilities of railway-ferry crossing between the port of Crimea and the port of Caucasus, which is to ensure incoming load of the terminal. The chain is to be the following: tank wagon – reservoir – vessel. Storage capacity and throughput have not been specified.

Design capacity of the Crimea-Caucasus railway-ferry crossing is 3.4 million tons per year (50 thou wagons). Today in Crimea, only Kerch fishing port has facilities capable of gas condensate transshipment.
