Cargo turnover of Nakhodka port up 0.3% in 10M06

Cargo turnover of Nakhodka port amounted to 6 668.4 thou tons in January-October 2006 (+0.3% against year-on-year result), Rosmorport FSUE told PortNews IAA. Over the reported period the port handled 5 012.0 thou tons of general cargo (+8.1% against January-October 2005) including container turnover amounting to 214.3 thou tons (+93.9%), metal transshipment - 4 601.2 thou tons (+6.9 %), metal scrap - 29.3 thou tons (-20.6%). The port shipped 1 582.9 thou tons of timber (+9.5%) including 1 305.5 thou tons of round timber (+10.99%), sawn materials – 277.4 thou tons (+3.2%). Transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 73.5 thou tons (7.8 times less as compared with January-October 2005). The figure includes transshipment of coal and coke amounting to 12.2 thou tons (17.4 times less as compared with year-on-year result). Ore transshipment totaled 61.3 thou tons (5.8 times less than year-on-year result).

Nakhodka port is located on both coasts in the northern part of Nakhodka Bay. The port has year round navigation. It is linked with railway systems of Russia and Western Europe by Trans-Siberian Line.
