East-Siberian Railway transported over 1 million tons of containerized cargo in 10M06

In the 10-month period of 2006, East-Siberian Railway transported over 1 million tons of containerized cargo (+22.5% against year-on-year result), ESRW’s PR service reports. In January-October ESRW loaded over 72.1 thou containers including 45.9 thou of high-capacity containers. The most dynamic development was demonstrated by the North-Baikal branch of ESRW, which loaded about 3.4 thou containers (+38.7% against plan). As for ESRW as a whole, container loading grew over the reported period by over 10% against year-on-year result. In September ESRW loaded 8.6 thou containers (+22.9% year-on-year). Over 92% of all containerized cargo was transported in high-capacity containers. This type of containers is the most popular at ESRW today. Transportation of such containers ensure considerable decrease of transportation costs. In January-October 2006 ESRW’s transportation in high-capacity containers made 63.7% of all containerized cargo.
