Nevsky Shipbuilding & Shiprepairing Yard finalizes Multi Cat 1908 towboats for Damen Shipyards

On November 10, 2006 Nevsky Shipbuilding & Shiprepairing Yard started shipment of the towboats series Multi Cat 1908, built for Dutch company Damen Shipyards, the yard’s press release reports. Multi Cat 1908 towboats is the second series of vessels built for Damen. The first towboat of the 1908 series was launched on November 10, the rest three are to be shipped to the customer within 10 coming years. The first series was delivered in May 2006. It included three Multi Cat 1506 vessels. Besides, Multi Cat 1506 towboats are currently under preparation for delivery. They are to be launched before the end of this year. Damen Multi Cat 1908 - is a modern, multipurpose vessel for inland and coastal operations, built in series to proven reliable standard design and great market requirements, equipped with high quality standardized components and equipment. Overall length of one vessel is 18.7 m, breadth – 8.06 m, displacement - 110 tons. Basically this type of towboats is arranged for transport of heavy equipment, towing, pushing, pollution control of oil spillage and liquidation of water area pollution. Heavy-duty construction, that includes large work deck, provides vessel with excellent maneuverability, good stability, ability to work in shoaling waters and execution of all functions in accordance with the purpose.
