Throughput of National Container Terminal up 20.1% to 872,000 TEU
In January-June 2008, container throughput of National Container Terminal (NCC) amounted to 872,093 TEU (+20.1%, year-on-year), the company informs.
In the reported period, container throughput of First Container Terminal (St. Petersburg) amounted to 528,329 TEU (+14.5%, year-on-year).
In June the terminal handled 87,104 TEU (+13.5%, year-on-year) including 43,483 TEU of export cargo and 43,621 TEU of import cargo. Turnover of refrigerated containers made 11,167 TEU (+52% against June 2007).
In June 2008, the terminal handled 60 vessels with average turnover of 1,452 TEU per vessel.
In January-June 2008, container throughput of Nodal Transporting and Forwarding Company of Novorossiysk totaled 65,669 TEU (-0.3%, year-on-year). In June the terminal handled 7,764 TEU (-33.7% against June 2007) including 3,804 TEU of export cargo and 3,960 TEU of import cargo. Loaded/empty container ratio made 71% against 29% respectively. In June 2008, the terminal handled 60 vessels with average turnover of 1,109 TEU per vessel.
In January-June 2008, container throughput of Ukrtranscontainer (Iljichevsk, Ukraine) made 278,095 TEU (+39.8%). In June the terminal handed 51,842 TEU (+44.5%) including 29,398 TEU of export cargo and 22,444 TEU of import cargo. Loaded/empty container ratio made 54% against 46% respectively.
National Container Company (NCC) is the leading Russian operator of container terminals. It holds leading position at the market of stevedoring services. NCC is owned in equal shares by First Quantum and FESCO transport group (FESCO’s control stock is owned by Industrial Investors Group). In 2207, total throughput of NCC terminals amounted to 1.5 mln TEU.

- First Container Terminal (port of St. Petersburg, leader at the market of container cargo transshipment in Russia, CIS and Baltic countries, capacity - 1 million TEU per year with a perspective expansion to 1.6 million TEU per year);
- Nodal Transporting and Forwarding Company of Novorossiysk (NUTEP, port of Novorossiysk, current capacity of 130 thou TEU with a perspective expansion to 750 thou TEU);
- Iljichevsk container terminal (Ukraine, current capacity of 450 thou TEU with a perspective expansion to 4 million TEU).
