Russia and Azerbaijan call for Caspian status determination
Presidents Dmitry Medvedev of Russia and Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan have called on the leaders of Caspian Sea states to determine the area's status, the Trend news agency reported today according to RBC. The parties confirmed their commitment to maintaining the current legal international status of the Caspian Sea and observing agreements on dividing the sea signed by Azerbaijan, Russia, and Kazakhstan. The two Presidents also urged other heads of Caspian states to conclude similar mutually acceptable agreements.
