Xiamen port ups international transshipments by 237pc in first five months
Port of Xiamen's cumulated international transshipments from January to May shot 236.9 per cent up to 27,740 TEU, Logistics Week reported.
During this period, the port's container throughput went 10.9 per cent up to 1.98 million TEU. Its overall cargo tonnage rose 17.9 per cent to 39.2 million tonnes. Sea-rail intermodal cargo jumped 37.3 per cent to 30.3 million TEU.
Upgrade of Xiamen port's facilities, which has attracted launches of more international container shipping lines, was said to have contributed to the growth.
