RUR 279 billion to be allocated for development of Russia’s North-West ports
RUR 279 billion is planned to be allocated for the development of Russia’s North-West ports, including RUR 76 billion to come from the federal budget, RF Transportation Minister Igor Levitin said at the meeting of the Maritime Board under RF Government held Saturday in St. Petersburg. RUR 120 billion is to be spent for the development of transport approaches to the ports of the region, Levitin said according to RBC.
According to Levitin, the port of Ust-Luga is to handle 100-130 million tonnes of cargo by 2015, Primorsk - 25 million tonnes, Vyborg - 3 million tonnes, Vysotsk – 12 million tonnes.
Levitin also told the port of Kaliningrad is eyeing the construction of a container terminal, the port of Murmansk – the development of the west side of the Kola Bay for transshipment of coal and oil products, thus raising the port’s throughput to 50 million tonnes. In Archangelsk, the port’s throughput is to reach some 13-15 million tonnes by 2015. The Varandei terminal is to handle 12 million tonnes, Kandalaksha – 1.5 million tonnes, Levitin said.
