Transportation of Estonian railway up 1.5% in October 2006

Transportation of Eesti Raudtee (Estonian railway) amounted to 3.61 million tons in October 2006 (+1.5% against year-on-year result), RZD-Partner reports. Transportation of oil and oil products totaled about 2 million tons (-9%, year-on-year). The decrease may be attributed, first of all, to lower volumes of cargo coming from Byelorussia. Volume of Russian cargo was stable in October. In the 9-month period RRW transported 36.32 million tons of cargo (-0.75% against 2005). About 59% (21.54 million tons) of volume falls on oil and oil products. Within a year-period transportation of this type of cargo fell by 11%. Transit transportation totaled 29.67 million tons in 9M06 (-0.6% against year-on-year result).
