Hanjin Shipping undertakes company-wide process innovation

Hanjin Shipping is undertaking a Process Innovation (PI) program jointly with its IT affiliate CyberLogitec and IBM Korea. The program began in February 2005.Process Innovation is a massive project, with a budget in excess of 50 billion won. Full operation of the new innovative process is targeted for May 2007.The goal of the PI project is to upgrade management systems and strengthen organisation competency to maintain business stability in the increasingly fierce and volatile global business environment.

The PI project will overhaul the current work process and IT systems extensively by bringing advanced management models, differentiated customer service competency, original and innovative operation models, optimised operations of management resources and advanced IT competency, while moving on to strategic structure with an emphasis on responsibility.Under the PI initiative, the company will introduce the globally proven system package in each area such as Strategic Enterprise Management (SEM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Master Data Management (MDM) and Enterprise Application Integration (EAI).It will also establish next-generation sales and logistics systems with optimising functions as the core business of maritime business as well as realising powerful IT infrastructure.In August 2006, the ‘Value-Based Management (VBM)’ system, Hanjin’s mid- to long-term business strategy solution, became fully operational followed by the CRM system in October this year. The company plans to introduce the ERP system in January 2007 and the next-generation planning, sales and logistics system in May 2007.
