Official calls for cut in diesel fuel prices
A reduction in diesel fuel prices is paramount in Russia, Yury Shafranik, the head of the country's union of oil and gas industrialists, told a press conference today according to RBC. He called the current level of diesel fuel prices a serious problem, saying that it particularly affected agricultural producers.
Shafranik urged steps to be taken to resolve the problem in the near future, including the stabilization of oil production as a whole, the exploration of oil wells that are currently not in use, as well as giving small and medium businesses access to oil refining facilities. The government is now reviewing the development of the oil refining industry, Shafranik stated, adding that it was possible and necessary to renovate the country's refineries.
