Chongquin International Container Terminal, the operator of Chongqing's Cuntan port area, will receive an extra CNY104 million (US13.2 million) investment for expansion of the Chongqing Gangjiu Co. and Chongqing Port Logistics Co. facilities, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The Cuntan port area expansion project cost a total of CNY2 billion. The first phase has been in operation since it was completed last year and now has a capacity of 280,000 TEU. Phase 2 project is scheduled to be finished in 2009, by which time, the Cuntan port area will be able to handle up to 700,000 TEU a year.
