Hyundai Heavy's June orders fall 8 pct

Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., the world's largest shipbuilder, said Thursday that orders it received in June fell 8 per cent from a year earlier on fewer contracts to build power plants and other facilities.
The company received US$3.72 billion worth of orders last month, compared with $4.04 billion a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing.
Shipbuilding orders climbed 20 per cent to $2.94 billion won last month, but its plant-building orders sank 95 per cent to $50 million, the shipbuilder said.
Hyundai Heavy Industries won $19.8 billion worth of orders in the first six months of the year, up 62 per cent from a year earlier, it said. Shipbuilding orders gained 65 per cent to $12.3 billion, it said.
The company has achieved 67 per cent of its annual contract goal of a record $29.4 billion this year.
Hyundai Heavy delivered 47 ships worth $5.06 billion in the first half of the year, compared with the deliveries of ships valued at $2.8 billion made a year earlier, it said.
Hyundai Heavy closed at 333,000 won on the Seoul bourse, up 6.2 per cent.
