Ukraine seeks $2b for port development
Ukrainian Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Volodymyr Rabotnev estimates US$2 billion is needed for development of the country's ports, the Ukrainian National News Agency reports.
Rabotnev said that private investors would be invited to invest in the development of the ports, which would include port deepening, increasing cargo handling capacity, building new container terminals and reconstructing existing berths.
He added that the port site should remain in the state's possession, whilst the cargo handling infrastructure could be rented or sold to private companies. The work is expected to be completed by 2016.
