Holland Maas Shipping to start new service between Rotterdam and St. Petersburg
On the 6th of August, Holland Maas Shipping (HMS) plans to start a new weekly service between Rotterdam and St. Petersburg.
Using two vessels with a capacity of around 900 TEU, the shipping line will be transporting both door-to-door cargo ('short sea') and containers from/for the big intercontinental ships ('feedering'). The vessels are handled at the ECT Home terminal.
In 2007, container traffic between Rotterdam and Russia increased by approximately 20% to 350,000 TEU. Bearing in mind the development of the Russian economy and the growth in the volume of Asian traffic to Rotterdam (number of services, number as first port of call and vessel size), this increase can be expected to continue.
