The total volume of sales in open to debate, however. At the end of last year, estimates by leading players put sales at 2.3-2.5 million tonnes (mt) annually. Sources spoken to recently by Bunkerworld suggested that monthly volumes were around 250-300,000 mt per month, or 3-3.6 million mt annually - a substantially higher number.
