Suezmax tanker NS Burgas to be put into operation by Novoship by the end of September 09

The first of four Suezmax tankers being built by Jiangsu Rongsheng Heavy Industries (China) for Novoship OJSC (Sovcomflot Group) has been named NS Burgas. The name-giving ceremony was held on September 1, corporate newspaper Morskoi Vestnik writes. The sea trial was successfully completed by NS Burgas on August 29. The vessel is to be put into operation in the second half of September 2009.

Bulgarian city Burgas, the starting point of Transbalkan pipeline is to be put into operation by the end of 2012. The project will create a new route making it possible to transport Russian and Caspian oil from Russian ports of the Black sea to the port of Burgas and then by oil products to the Greek port of -Alexandroupolis for further transshipment to tankers carrying it to the global markets.

Tankers of B-series are designed for transshipment of crude oil. All of them have the length of 274 meters, breadth – 48 meters, draft – 17 meters, speed – 15.1 knots. The supervision is carried out by Lloyd's Register. 

Novorossiysk Shipping Company is the largest Russian shipping company in the Black Sea. The company’s fleet totals 53 up-to-date vessels aggregating 4.14 mln deadweight tonnes. The fleet’s average age is 6.3 years.
