Bunker sales in the world's top bunker port stood at 3.063 million tonnes last month, down 0.33 per cent from July's 3.073 million tonnes, and 5.1 per cent below the record high of 3.227 million tonnes in May, the Maritime and Port Authority said on its website.
Traders attributed August's firm performance to improving shipping activity and Singapore's competitive rates vis-a-vis regional ports.
Compared with a year earlier, August bunker sales were down about 2.8 per cent.
