New owners of Loksa Shipyard promise to continue with ship construction

The new owners of Loksa Shipyard promise to continue with ship construction amd seek for new areas of activity, Äripäev reports.

“The new owners intend to continue in the old area of activity or producing components for making ships. In addition we want to review company’s order portfolio to find new areas of activity in energy, oil and gas industry for example and in infrastructure construction,” Andrei Akulistõi, the CEO of Crown Solutions OÜ. Other two companies of the concircium which bought Loksa Shipyard are AS Frelok and Stako Diler OÜ.

Finn Buus Nielsen, member of Loksa Shipyard’s supervisory board and CEO of Odense Steel Shipyard said that they’re happy with the deal and got the price they wanted.

 

“Yes, we’re satisfied with the deal. If the situation in the economy was better then perhaps the price would have been better, but we got what we wanted. It’s also important that Loksa got new owner,” Nielsen said.

He didn’t disclose the price, but according to Äripäev’s calculations it could have been about EUR 15-20 mln or EEK 230-320.

Nielsen said that 5-6 companies were interested in buying Loksa Shipyard after the sale was announced in September last year.

AS BLRT Grupp, ship concern, don’t explain why it didn’t buy Loksa Shipyard. Anu Hallik-Jürgenstein, head of public relations at BLRT said that Loksa wasn’t in BLRT’s strategic interests.

Fjodor Berman, owner of BLRT Grupp said in last September that he is interested in buying Loksa Shipyard.

The owner of Odense Steel Shipyard, the world’s biggest container company Moeller-Maersk said they want to sell Loksa Shipyard for they want to make Lindö shipyard in Denmark profitable.
