Universal Cargo Logistics Holding participated in Investment Forum in Sochi

Transport holding Universal Cargo Logistics Holding (UCLH) presentsed perspective trends of development of the main transport assets at the VIII International Investment Forum, which was held in Sochi from September 17 till September 20. 

The group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” and “Volga-Baltic Logistics” which are the parts of UCLH also participated in this Forum. 

One of the largest companies on the North-Western territory of Russia – the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” presented the project of full development of Sea Container Terminal on the territory of Fourth Stevedoring Company with the annual capacity of 1.5 mln. TEU. The reconstruction of former handling capacities for coal, aluminum silica, scrap metals and timber into the first stage of the terminal with the annual capacity of 350 thousand was started in 2008. In 2008 new equipment was purchased for the container terminal. The first shipment lot of this equipment (2 RTGs) was received on September 10, 2009. 

“Volga-Baltic Logistics” presented the opportunities for transportation of inert cargoes for the new Olympic facilities in Sochi by river-sea vessels. 


Established in 2007 transport holding Universal Cargo Logistics Holding consolidated the biggest Russian ports – the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg”, Tuapse and Taganrog Sea Commercial Ports, the biggest steamship lines in Russia –Volga and North-Western and a number of shipping and shipbuilding assets. 

The group of companies JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” includes CJSC “First Stevedoring Company”, CJSC “Second Stevedoring Company”, CJSC “Third Stevedoring company”, CJSC “Fourth Stevedoring Company”, “Universal Handling Facility” in Ust-Luga  and a number of service companies. Sea Container Terminal – the fourth project, implemented within the Development Programme of the group of companies JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” which envisages the handling of  more profitable cargoes and increase of the handling capacities up to 20 mln. tons per year by construction of specialized highly-productive terminals.  

“Volga-Baltic Logistics” is the subsidiary company of JSC “North-Western Steamship Line” and JSC “Volga Steamship Line”. The company operates the fleet of 149 river-sea vessels with the total deadweight of 490 thousand tons, 110 barges and 70 towboats. In 2008 the fleet of the company transported about 8 mln. tons of various cargoes, including bulk, general and project cargoes.  110 vessels of “Volga-Baltic Logistics” work all year round. Since June of 2009 “Volga-Baltic Logistics” is the exclusive agent of Jumbo Shipping in Russia and CIS countries. 

International Investment Forum is held annually in Sochi and aimed at the arrangement of interaction between the representatives of Russian and foreign companies, state authorities and representatives of science with regard to the issues related to the economic development of Russian Federation, increase of investment attractiveness and strengthening of positions of the country on the external market.
