MSC rises rates on Caribbean services

Mediterranean Shipping on Monday announced rate increases that will take effect Oct. 19 from Mexican Gulf ports to ports in the Caribbean.
The carrier said it will apply a general rate increase from Mexican Gulf Ports to Cartagena in Colombia and Caucedo in the Dominican Republic of $450 per 20-foot container and $550 per 40-foot container.
It also said it will apply a GRI of $1,050 per TEU and $1,500 per FEU to cargo moving from Mexico to Venezuela. The increases will also be effective Oct. 19 “in order to adapt to current market conditions in Venezuela and keep on providing a service which meets the requirements of our customers from Mexico to Venezuela.”
