The work on setting limits of 24 ports (out of 66) has been completed in Russia, Aleksei Klyavin, Director of the Department for State Policy in Maritime and River Transport, RF Transport Ministry, said at the conference "Beyond the crisis outline. New routes of water transport development" arranged by PortNews IAA. According to Aleksei Klyavin, the limits have been also approved for Novorossiysk, St. Petersburg, Primorsk, Ust-Luga. The procedure is nearing completion in the ports of Kaliningrad and Murmansk. Active work is in progress in the Far East as well.
The limits of the Big Port of St. Petersburg were approved by the RF Government in late August after years of negotiations between the Ministry of Transport and other involved authorities including the Ministry of Defense. The Decree was signed by RF Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
By today the Ministry of Transport has elaborated draft decrees setting limits of port Azov, (Rostov region), Olya (Krasndar territory) and three ports of the Sakhalin region.
