In September 15-16, 2009, in Oslo (Norway) there took place Monitoring Committee meeting of the Baltic Sea region program 2007-2013, during which the financing of international project „SMOCS“ was approved within INTERREG IV program. Klaipeda Port Authority is participating as a partner there.
The goal of INTERREG IV program international project „SMOCS“ (Sustainable Management of Contaminated Sediments in the Baltic Sea – is to determine the latest management methods of contaminated soil in order to mitigate seabed and water pollution, ensure greater maritime bio-variety, and decrease the quantities of hazardous materials in fish organisms. These novelties will correspond HELCOM Baltic Sea Activity Plan, reported BC Klaipeda State Seaport Authority Public Relations Geda Marozaite.
