IMTP (the Ukraine) handled cargo volume down 14.3% within 11 months, 2009

Volume of cargo handled by Ilichevsk Commercial Seaport GP (IMTP, Odessa region, the Ukraine) decreased by 14.3% (to 15.090 mln tons) within 11 months, 2009 as compared to the corresponding period of 2008, reported company’s press-service with reference to   the statistics. In November, 2009 cargo handling figure of the enterprise decreased by 17.2% (to 1.251 mln tons) including general cargo handling – 42.9%, liquid cargo – 13.0 %; volume of bulk cargo handled increased by 19.2 %.

Most rapid growth in November current year was shown by: oils (+10.8%), grains (+12.9 %), oil meal (+366.7%); sulphur (+55.7 %) year-on-year.

Volumes of vehicles transhipped witnessed a slump of 91.3 % within the reporting period of 2009 against that of 2008.

Volumes of containers handled (kg) in November decreased by 30.3%. The volume of containers handled in November, 2009 went down by 47.6% (to 25.2 thou TEUs) against the reporting period of 2008.

Ilichevsk Commercial Seaport is situated on the North coast of the Black Sea. The port links Ukraine with almost 100 countries. The port has facilities capable of handling over 30 million tonnes of cargoes annually; modern berths with total quay line of 6,000 m; facilities which can provide simultaneous storage of 1,5 million tons of cargo. Ilichevsk Commercial Seaport has three railway entries and three check points for motor vehicles. 2008 cargo turnover of the port increased by 18% (18.9 million tons) as compared to 2007 results.
