Sovcomflot accepts for operation SCF Surgut tanker, 157.3 thou tons dwt

A heavy-tonnage vessel of ‘suezmax’ type SCF Surgut enlarged the fleet of Sovcomflot group of companies on December 2, 2009.  The vessel was accepted into operation at Hyundai Heavy Industrie shipyard yard (Republic of Korea).

SCF Surgut tanker, 157.3 thou tons dwt, is designed for crude oil shipment. The tanker is 274 m long, 48 m wide, maximum gauge 17 m. The vessel fully complies with all the national and international safety requirements of American Classification Society ABS and can operate without any limitations to the navigation area.

SCF Surgut tanker is named after one of the oldest Siberian towns, center a vast oil district, unofficial oil-extracting capital of Russia.

The vessel is charted by one of the largest international oil-and-gas companies Сhevron and will proceed to the first port of loading upon all formalities documentation.

Sovcomflot operates the forth world’s deadweight largest fleet of suezmax tankers segment and places orders for building of such vessel proceeding from the demand of Russian cargo base and developing opportunities of Russian maritime crude oil loading ports, including a new terminal in Primorskiy kray – Kozmino.
