Cargo turnover of Murmansk Commercial Seaport up by 7.3% within 11 months, 2009

Cargo turnover of Murmansk Commercial Seaport (MMTP) increased by 7.3% (to 13 mln 853.7 thou tons) in Janury-November, 2009 as compared to the corresponding period of 2008. In November, 2009 company’s cargo turnover amounted to 1 mln 116.8 thou tons of various cargoes, reported company’s press-service. This figure was 1 mln 234.022 thou tons in 2008, MMTP cargo turnover thus decreased by 9.5% year-on-year.

In November, 2009 export cargoes transhipment volume amounted to 1 mln 86.4 thou tons, here belong coal – 885.8 thou tons, apatite – 148.4 thou tons. In November, 2009 the port has transhipped 23.5 thou tons of coastal cargoes. The port has imported 6.8 thou tons.

Agrospher CJSC, an affiliate of the port, has transhipped 28.9 thou tons of mineral fertilizers in  November, 2009.

In November, 2009 the port has handled 42 vessels including 17 coal-loaded ships. All the vessels were handled ahead of the schedule. 17 thou 134 railcars were unloaded including , those with coal – 12 thou 105.

Within 11 months, 2009 the port handled 466 vessels (including 203 coal-loaded ones), 193 thou 99 units (including those with coal - 160 thou 496 railcars).

It is worth mentioning, MMTP announced its plans of cargo turnover increase to 15 mln tons (+ 4% against the previous year figure) as of 2009 results.

Murmansk Commercial Seaport (MMTP) was founded in 1994 on the basis of the state enterprise. It stands fourth in Russia in its volume of cargo handled and second in its area (after St.-Petersburg port) in North-West of Russia. Murmansk Commercial Seaport (MMTP) operates at 17 berths stretched for 3000 meters.
