Over the past 10 months, 2009, cargo turnover at the seaports of Finland has decreased by 19,1 %, as of the same period of 2008 - to 65 million 54,471 thousand tons, according to the Association of the Finnish ports.
Transfer of inward cargoes in the state seaports in January-October, 2009 has made up 35 million 242,067 thousand tons (-20,5 % as of the last year), transfer of export cargoes amounted to 29 million 812,404 thousand tons (-17,5 %), the report says. In the accounting period the highest cargo transfer volume was demonstrated in port Sheldvik (Sköldvik) - 14 million 294,054 thousand tons. Turnover reduction has made up 1,9 % in comparison with the outcome of 2008.
Earlier it was reported that the turnover in Finnish port Kotka was reduced on 34,9 % in January-October, 2009 as of figures of the same period of last year - to 6,34 million tons, cargo turnover at port of Helsinki has decreased by 19 % - to 8,218 million tons for January-October, 2009.
