DHL launches India-Dubai service

DHL launched direct less-than-container-load services connecting India’s largest container port of Nhava Sheva (Jawaharlal Nehru) to Dubai.
DHL Global Forwarding said the weekly services, through its local arm DHL Lemuir Logistics, will help expand and strengthen its customers’ supply-chain on the India-Middle East trade lane.
“With the launch of this service, DHL Global Forwarding will also enable seamless flow of ocean freight cargo through Dubai to other GCC countries, such as Muscat, Kuwait and Oman,” the company said in a statement.
Established in 2003, DHL Lemuir is a joint venture between DHL Global Fowarding and Mumbai-based Lemuir Group, with offices at all major locations in the country.
In a separate announcement, DHL Global Forwarding said it signed a strategic air cargo security partnership agreement with Air India-SATS, Bangalore.
Under the agreement, the two firms will share best practices and information on crime trends in the air cargo transport sector, and agree on standard operating procedures for high-value and high-risk cargo, the DHL unit said.
Air India-SATS is a joint venture company between National Aviation Company of India, which is now branded Air India, and Singapore Airport Terminal Services. The company provides ground-handling services at the new airports of Bangalore and Hyderabad.
