The Federal Customs Service of Russia (FCS) intends to apply additional measures of the customs control for the goods transported by the Latvian trucking companies, the FCS press agency reports. According to the FCS experts the Latvian trucking companies have admitted many infringements of customs rules of Russia. The Latvian companies did not deliver goods to the Russian customs points. Over the past 11 months, this year there have been three times more cases registered than that of 2008.
In most cases the truckers move consumer goods with high level of the taxation (clothes, footwear and so forth). The damage for the budget of the Russian Federation caused by non-payment of customs payments exceeds 50 million of roubles. According to FCS experts, there might be criminal schemes.
The Russian FCS informed the Latvian authorities in August and October, 2009 and expressed concern about the situation caused by the infringements of Russian customs rules by the Latvian trucking companies and asked to take the measures to solve the situation. The Latvian companies must repay all debts to the budget of the Russian Federation. However the situation has not changed yet, the FCS say.
Russian customs officers report of the new facts of infringements of customs rules continue by the Latvian trucking companies. The amount of damage grows and there is no positive dynamics in repayment of the collected debts so far.
This summer the same problem now with Lithuanian companies was solved due to undertaken additional measures by the Russian customs service.
In these circumstances with a view of maintenance of unconditional observance of norms of international law and the customs legislation of the Russian Federation at transportations of the goods under the customs control, and also damage prevention to economic interests of Russian Federation the FCS intends to take additional measures of the customs control of the goods and the vehicles moved by the Latvian truck companies.
The FCS of Russia has informed the interested ministries and departments of the Latvian Republic and the Russian Federation about the planned measures, the FCS news service report.
