In 2009 the North-West Shipping Company, Volgo-Baltic Logistics transported over 6,8 thousand tons of hi-tech equipment intended for the investments energy development program initiated by the Russian Minpromenergo. According to the company’s press-service report, from May till December, 2009 there have been seven cruises across Volga and Don rivers.
The liners transported from Europe to Russian ports scores of heat exchangers totaled 4 thousand tons (in some cases the cargo weight exceeded 220 tons), as well as gas-turbine and other hi-tech equipment for Russian district power station.
As of now the steam-ships «Volgo-Don 5105» and «Volgo-Don 5091» of the NWSC a number of heat exchangers of gross weight of 2,2 thousand tons has been transported from the Romanian port Constance to Russian Volsk port of Saratov region, meant for TPS, Syzran.
The NWSC authorities believe the hi-tech cargoes transshipment could be a promising business. The company has planned for the next 2010 year to increase a market share dealing with transportation of the equipment for the Russian electric power industry.
OS NWSC is the major Russian shipping company specialising on transportation of general, mass, bulk, bulk cargoes. The company operates 150 cargo ships deadweight of 550 thousand tons, including 126 "river-sea" ships, 4 barges, 12 tows and 6 auxiliary vessels.
