The UST-LUGA Company (Leningrad region) has purchased 3 mobile cranes from Liebherr Group of Germany and is planning to borrow current assets to purchase more cranes, the company’s press-service reports.
According to Maxim Shirokov, the general manager of ULC, the company bought the new hi-tech equipment for a new multitask transshipping complex, which starts to operate in the first quarter of 2010.”We are further planning to purchase several more powerful mobile cranes of large productivity and load-carrying capacity”, Mr. Shirokov is quoted as saying in his interview with the press-service.
As of now the company covers the deal expenses with “Libherr-Rusland” by its equity , however in near future will have to borrow current assets.
The mobile port cranes will allow raising total throughput at the terminal. With the new equipment the terminal can handle any type of cargoes.
The Libherr-Verk Nentsing GmbH company builds a wide range of mobile cranes and feature ultra-modern mobile-crane technology that meet all demands. Two cranes can operate with 104 tons, one - 84 tons. According to Herman Ignatov, the sales manager of the port equipment of "Libherr-Rusland" company, it was a good decision of UST-LUGA authorities to buy such class of cranes. The modern port needs state-of-art facilities and equipment. Mr. Ignatov said he hopes for a long and fruitful cooperation.
UL company is building the multi-task transshipping complex MTC-2 according to own investment project. The first stage started to operate back in June, 2008. The complex is intended for transshipment of new cars, containers and general cargoes.
MTC-2 terminal is a unique state-of-art operator in Russia capable to handle any vessels of ro-ro, con-ro type. After the terminal reaches its full capacity it will handle over 4,6 million tons of export-import cargoes a year. The total amount of investments into the project makes 8,4 billion rubles.
