Mozambique International Port Services (MIPS) has broken yet another record for November, moving 13,700 TEU, compared with an average of 6,000 TEU per month for the period January to June 2009.
This follows record months for August (8,500 TEU) , September (12,500 TEU) and October (11,400 TEU).
The higher volumes are due to the increased commitment by importers and exporters and services providers, as well as the increased shipping line services to the port of Maputo, and MIPS is ready to invest further to immediately refurbish cranes, expand the terminal area and install more new equipment to ensure that the terminal copes with increased container volumes through the port.
