Cargo turnover of Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port (NCSP) Group in January-November 2009 grew by 6% compared with the same period of 2008 - up to 78.8 million tons. The volume of transshipment of bulk cargo since January through November, this year has increased by 4.16 million tons or 45.1% as of the last year, the company press service report reads.
The overall growth of liquid cargoes turnover for 11 months of 2009 totaled 3.25 million tons or up 6.5% compared to the same period last year. In particular, the volume of transshipment of crude oil rose by 3.8% - to 40.58 million tons, oil products by 20.2% - to 11.99 million tons
During the period, transshipment of general cargo totaled 10 million tons, up 0.4% or 43 tones below last year. Total deliveries of ferrous metals increased by 1.1% - up to 8 million tons.
Following 11 months of 2009 the volume of transshipment of containers decreased by 40% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 210.7 thousand TEUs.
Commenting on operating results for the January-November 2009, CEO of NCSP Igor Vilinov said: "During the period we have managed to maintain the growth rate of turnover of 6%, which allows us to count on a positive trend and the results of 2009. Past month did not reveal any fundamental new trends - we continue to retain our position on the iron-ore raw materials turnover, grain, diesel fuel and some other cargoes. It is worth of note, that the growth of transshipment of dry fertilizer was by 24%, as well as the improvement of situation with ferrous and nonferrous metals, which exceeded the level of the same period, last year by 1,1% and 1,6% respectively.
