Rough sea causes wreckage of hydro-technical structures at the port of Sochi

The destruction of hydro-technical structures at the site of the port cargo area, which is under construction, in the estuary of Mzymta river, was caused  by heavy sea, the Ministry of Transport of Russia reports. Waves in the area were reportedly 10-12 m against the 7.5 meters of designed characteristics of the dam. The damaged structures have been currently under detailed engineering survey, and then the costs of the damages will be determined.
The Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport established an ad hoc commission to investigate into the causes that had led to the loss of equipment and serious destruction of the dam protecting the port cargo area, which is currently under construction..
Deputy Transport Minister Viktor Olersky and head of the Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport, Alexander Davydenko, CEO "Rosmorport Igor Rusu are reportedly at the wreckage site.
Besides, rescue operation is continuing to find lost crew members of the diving boat "Nord", which had been washed ashore by the storm.
To remind, the six points storm had overturned platform Irben and a diving boat (DB) "Nord" had been washed ashore in the cargo area, under construction, at the mouth of Mzymta river, of Sochi sea port.
