Throughput of port in Astrakhan is expected to be up 39.6 % to 4.24 million tons in 2009

According to the forecast for 2009 the turnover of goods at port of Astrakhan will grow by 39.6 % totalling 4.24 million tonnes. As the port administration reported to IA Port News, at the end of the year the increase in dry cargo transsipment volume is expected to make up 44.2 % totalling 4.14 million tonnes, at the same the decline in bulk cargo transshipment is to reach 40 % to 96 thousand.

Port capacity in Astrakhan totaled 3 million tonnes in 2008.
