Cargo turnover at the port of Kavkaz (Caucasus) for January-November 2009 increased by 14.58% over the same period in 2008 totaling 7.5 million tons. The number of handled vessels increased by 12.5 % to 2 thousand 376 units, FSUE RosMorPort branch in Tamansk reported in the interview to Port News.
The Seaport of Kavkaz is located on the border of the Azov Sea and Black Sea from the Russian side. It is capable to handle both with river boats (depth of 4,5 meters), and with ships (during raids). Transshipment of bulk cargo is carried out through the port berths primarily (mineral fertilizers, concentrates of various ores, grains), but general, timber, and containerized cargoes can also be transferred. Capacity of port Kavkaz made up 7 million 28.17 thousand tones for 2008.
