Radioactive cargo laden ships may call in Russian Seaport Kavkaz

The Seaport Kavkaz (Caucasus) was included in the list of seaports of Russia, in which permitted calling of vessels shipping nuclear materials, radioactive substances and products containing them. According to the FSUE RosMorPort press release, it was approved by the Government Decree on December 14th.
Port Kavkaz is located between the Azov and Black Sea on the Russia side. It has the capacity to work with river vessels and from sea ships. The port can handle primarily bulk cargo (mineral fertilizers, concentrates of various ores, grains). General cargo, timber, and containers can also be transshipped through the port. Cargo turnover at the port Kavkaz in 2008 was over 7 million tons.
