Restrictions on the movement of vessels with no ice rate to be implemented in the Big Port of St. Petersburg Jan. 5, 2010

According to the plan restriction on the movement of vessels without ice rate are to be implemented in terms from January, 5-10 in 2010 to April,10-20 in 2010. Following relevant instructions issued by the Port Authority, these dates are not fixed and are appropriate for mild winter. In accordance with these dates, from January, 25 to  February, 5 and from April,1 to April,10 in 2010 restriction are considered to be put on movement of vessels with ice rate Ice Reinforcement 1. Also the winter navigation period is subjected to other restrictions.

Port of St. Petersburg is located on the islands of the delta of Neva river, in the Neva Bay, the eastern tip of the Gulf of Finland. At the border of the Big Port of St. Petersburg is the delta Neva River, the Neva Bay, Kronshtadt and the network of anti - floods structures (dam) of St. Petersburg. In the winter period the ships icebreaker assistance is carried out. According to the Port Authority of St. Petersburg transshipment was handled by 30 stevedoring companies. Port throughput for 2008 made up 59.9 million tons.
