Ship "ARAC-1 breaks, blown ashore in Sochi

A Moldavian-flagged ship was broken in two, and blown ashore by rough seas in Sochi, the Office of Emergency Ministry for the Southern Federal District said Sunday.
The ship ARAC-1 was reportedly following Trabzon-Temryuk route and took a harborage 5 miles off Sochi coast. On December 19 a distress call issued saying heavy (6 points) seas broke the hull in two, and that the ship was sinking. There was reportedly a ship crew of 13 who managed to leave the ship on a raft. Aft part of the ship was washed ashore, fore part is in the area of anchorage stayed half-sank.

All of 13 crew members had been rescued by rescue team, the port authorities said. Three rescue boats were participating in the operation (tug "Submariner", tug "Ruslan", tug "NIKIFOR Poyarkov").
 
According to the port authorities there were no leakage and spill of oil products in the sea waters. The ship bunker had fuel in the stern of the vessel: diesel fuel - 37 tons, oil - 2 tons

The port said they had scheduled the pumping of oil and inspection of the area for December 20 under favorable weather conditions.
