Mr Yakunin said the new railway line will connect two major industrial cities of Perm Region with all regions of Russia. It has been the larges project over the last 15 years, he said, adding the state-of-the-art technologies had been used in the construction of the line for further service of the stations.
The new line, said Mr. Yakunin, made it possible to restore passenger and commuter communication with Berezniki and Solikamsk, interrupted in 2006 due to a technical accident. The new road will allow increasing of weight and speed of freight trains passing through.
While building the line, the entire technical infrastructure, 5 bridges, four traction substations and Chashkin station, were constructed there, Mr. Yakunin said. Total investments in the project, RR press service said, had amounted to 8.2 billion rubles (including VAT) this year. Six billion rubles allocated by federal government and 2.2 billion rubles of RR’s investments.
In future the state-owned company plans the development of linear stations. According to company press service, since January 11 next year regular passenger trains begin to travel along the line.
