Oil spill in the waters of the Big Port of St. Petersburg, clean up measures

The Baltic Basin Emergency and Rescue Management (BBERM) started emergency measures shortly after ship fuel (presumably brand IFO-180) spilled Saturday in the waters at the Big port of St. Petersburg. According to IA "PortNews" citing Alexander Levchenko the Acting General Director of the Emergency department, so far at least 200 liters of petroleum products have been collected.
The oil spill occurred, the BBERM said, at the pier of Naval Station (Vasilevsky Island, St. Petersburg) on Friday morning while feeding a St.Vincent&Grenadines-flagged reefer "Varadero". The bunkering service was carried out by tanker Narva of Bunkering "NWPC-Gross"(St Petersburg) of MurmanskTransFlot company. Fuel spilled largely out (over two tones) on the vessel’s deck, only a small part of it into the water.

The BBERM team is carrying out the clean-up operation using several vessels and equipment ("Vyborg" tug, an ice skimmer) designed for use in winter conditions.
