Throughput of Maktren-Nafta terminal threefold growth - 80 thousand tons

The only Russian terminal handling of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) "Maktren-Nafta" (Temryuk, Krasnodar region) shows year-over-year 4% growth in volume of transshipped LPG, the company press service reports. The total throughput in 2009 amounted to over 80 thousand tons, said Arthur Minasov CEO of the management company Safinat An-Najaat Petroleum Company Ltd.
The average monthly throughput, he said, was about 8 thousand tons. Total transshipment rose 17.5% over Q3, 2009 and by 37% compared to the same period of 2008 "To achieve this result, we had updated the terminal operations, cooperating with suppliers and expanding the regions of deliveries.
Mr. Minasov believes recent appointment of Mursaali Macha, GM of "Maktren-Nafta has led to success of the company. In 2010, he will be managing the construction of anchorage, that could boost the volume of transshipment at least twofold.
"As of now, Terminal Maktren-Nafta" remains the major link in Russia's handling of LPG, says Alexander Asmolov, Vice President of SAFINAT Logistic Investment Group. In spite of some unfavorable obstacles this year the company clearly demonstrates the positive dynamics of its development.
Major providers of Maktren-Nafta in 2009 year were several companies, Novatek LLC, Lukoil, GazpromNeft, KazRosGaz, Tatneft, Tobolsk-Neftekhim.

The first phase of terminal was commissioned by early 2007 and started handling LPG in March 2007. Since then the operating terminal has significantly expanded the geography of export outward shipment of LPG, the company authorities said. The cargo was delivered to the Black Sea countries (Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania) and the Mediterranean (Greece, Serbia, Albania, Italy).
As of 2009 Maktren-Nafta remains the only Russian operating terminal for handling LPG (LPG-terminal). Designed for a year-round navigation and has transport links to the Black Sea through the Kerch Strait.
